The Parliamentary Network on the World Bank & IMF is pleased to announce the joint Parliamentary Capacity Building Programme with McGill University, supported by the World Bank and the IMF.
This award-winning programme is intended for newly elected and young Parliamentarians who wish to learn more about the fundamentals of parliamentary governance, international good practices and their application in parliamentary settings within different political systems and cultures. It includes an overview of:
- the three arms of government,
- different parliamentary models around the globe,
- the core functions of parliament,
- executive- legislative relations,
- the role of an MP,
- the relationship between parliament and the media, and contemporary issues in parliamentary governance.
Combining theory and practice, the programme uses a blended learning methodology with three online courses and one in-person course at McGill University in the Fall of 2022.
Members of Parliament having completed the programme will receive a Professional Development Certificate from McGill University. The courses will be offered free of charge for Parliamentarians.
