The 2010 Parliamentary Network Annual Conference and 10th anniversary celebrations will take place from 2-4 December 2010 in Brussels, Belgium. The Conference will bring together upwards of 200 participants from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. These are the four leading themes for this year’s conference:
Financing for Development: the focus will be on alternative poverty reduction strategies as well as fighting corruption and increasing policy coherence, with the goal of reaching sustainable development financing.
Evidence-Based Policymaking in Development: how to bring together researchers, policy makers and civil society actors so as to encourage well-informed decisions about policies, programmes and projects by putting the best available evidence at the heart of policy development and implementation.
Aid Effectiveness and Alignment: preparing participants for the Fourth High-Level Forum (HLF) on Aid Effectiveness, hosted by the OECD-DAC working party in June 2011. The 4th HLF will take stock of progress made towards aid effectiveness principles as defined in the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda as well as update and refine the principles outlined in these documents.
MDG Review: assessing both core MDG issues as well as related specialty areas, in particular challenges in reducing maternal and child mortality, providing the world’s people with access to clean drinking water, and ensuring environmental sustainability. Speakers of Parliaments and Heads of Parliamentary Network Chapters have been invited to nominate conference participants. The plenary and breakout sessions will include high-level speakers from international organisations, NGOs, think tanks and civil society organizations.
